2025 Tour to India
Adriano's Cricket Journey:
SA Pride in India There is a tropical flower species found in India, called the 'Pride of India'.
However, De Aar has her own Pride of India, here on local territory!
Adriano De Carvalho Gr 10 learner from De Aar High School, was selected for a SA cricket team, to tour India.
On 25 April 2025 Adriano participated in a 10 day cricket tour through India. He represented the SA Lions U15 team.
During the tour he and his SA team, played four matches against fierce competitors and on pitches that were vastly different to those in South Africa.
It was therefore extremely difficult batting conditions. However, Adriano excelled as wicket keeper and opening batsman during most of the matches.
The last match was against the Rajasthan Royals U15 academy in Jaipur.
He was fortunate enough to also do some sightseeing in India, which included visiting the Taj Mahal and riding on the back of elephants at a temple.
The greatest experience was to watch an IPL match.
After the tournament he was awarded the trophy for the most consistent batsman on the team.
This reward was a real honour for Adriano after very tough matches and challenging pitch conditions.
Definitely, not bad for the only Northern Cape Player in the SA Lions team!
This was indeed an experience to remember and build upon in the future, for his cricket career.
Upon arrival back in South Africa he was also fortunate to be interviewed by the SABS news channel.
We are very proud of Adriano de Carvalho, our SA (Indian) Pride!
