Pixley ka Seme District Road Safety Debate Competition

On 4 August 2026 learners from De Aar High School proudly represented the school at the Road Safety Debate Competition, held at Monwabisi High school. On 21 August 2026, our learners proudly represented De Aar High School at the Pixley ka Seme District Road Safety Debate Competition, competing against Orion High School and Monwabisi High School. We are incredibly proud to announce that De Aar High School secured 2nd place in the district debate! 🎉👏 A special congratulations to Zimbonge Adonisi, who was named the Best Second Speaker and was also selected to represent the Pixley ka Seme District at the Provincial Road Safety Debate Competition.

Zimbonge will join the selected learners from Orion High School and Monwabisi High School to represent Pixley ka Seme at the Provincial Road Safety Debate Competition on 29 August 2026 in Upington. We are extremely proud of our learners and wish Zimbonge all the best as she represents our school and district at provincial level! 🦅💙💚

🚦 Road Safety Debate Competition – 4 August 2026

On 4 August 2026 learners from De Aar High School proudly represented the school at the Road Safety Debate Competition, held at Monwabisi High school. Our learners participated in both the Junior and Senior categories, showcasing their confidence, critical thinking, research skills and ability to engage with important road safety issues. 🗣️ Junior Team The Junior team debated the motion: Mass media advertising is effective in promoting road safety. Our learners opposed the motion and presented well-structured arguments on the role and limitations of mass media advertising in changing road-user behaviour. 🎤 1st Speaker: Azingce Nxanjana 🎤 2nd Speaker: Simthandile Machogo 🎤 3rd Speaker: Lithe Yekani 🗣️ Senior Team The Senior team debated the motion: Road safety education is a better instrument than law enforcement to change road user behaviour. The team proposed the motion, arguing for the importance of education and awareness in creating responsible and safer road users. 🎤 1st Speaker: Sibahle Kuku 🎤 2nd Speaker: Zimbonge Adonisi 🎤 3rd Speaker: Cherise April Both teams received overall positive comments and encouraging feedback on their participation and performance. We are extremely proud of the effort, preparation and dedication shown by all our debaters. The official results will be made available on 21 August 2026, when we will find out which teams will progress to the District Competition. 🎙 ATKV-redenaars semi-finaal 🎙

Baie geluk aan Marco de Carvalho met sy uitstekende prestasie by die ATKV-Redenaars semi-finaal! Marco het 'n indrukwekkende 6de plek in die Top 10 van die Noord-Kaap behaal in die afdeling Afrikaans Huistaal (Voorbereid). Met sy insiggewende en kreatiewe toespraak getiteld "Hoe proe jou pouse?" het Marco die beoordelaars beïndruk deur sy sterk redenaarsvaardighede, selfvertroue en oorspronklike benadering tot die onderwerp. Ons is ongelooflik trots op hierdie prestasie en op die wyse waarop Marco ons skool verteenwoordig het. Mag hierdie sukses die begin wees van nog vele hoogtepunte op sy redenaarsreis! Baie geluk, Marco - jou harde werk en toewyding het beslis vrugte afgewerp. 🦅

📣 Redenaars praat hul pad na die semi-finaal 📣

Vier van Hoërskool De Aar se redenaars het op 17 April aan die eerste rondte van die ATKV se redenaarskompetisie deelgeneem. Van die vier deelnemers het Marco en Adriano de Carvalho deurgedring na die semi-finaal. Hier gaan hulle kragte meet met die heel beste redenaars in die Noord-Kaap. Baie geluk aan hierdie talentvolle sprekers wat die skool met trots verteenwoordig het deur hul selfvertroue, voorbereiding en puik redenaarsvaardighede. Die semi-finaal vind op 22 Mei in Upington plaas. Ons wens hulle alle sterkte toe vir die volgende rondte en is trots op hul prestasie.

Junior Provincial Commissioner Project – Public Speaking Competition

Two of our learners, Sibahle Kuku and Zimbonge Adonisi, proudly represented De Aar High School at the Junior Provincial Commissioner (JPC) Project – Public Speaking Competition, competing against learners from various schools across the Pixley ka Seme District. Both learners represented the school with dedication and confidence, delivering speeches aligned with the prescribed topic on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. We are excited to announce that Zimbonge Adonisi was selected as one of the top four learners and has progressed to the District Public Speaking Competition, which will take place on 24 February in De Aar. Zimbonge achieved an impressive 308 out of 500 points on the official public speaking score sheet. We commend both learners for their confidence, dedication and commitment, and we wish Zimbonge the very best in the next round! Well done to our learners for flying the De Aar High School flag high!
